Central Penn Bank & Trust, renamed in 2025 from Mifflinburg Bank and Trust Company, is a rural home-purchase lender that has made fewer loans every year since 2021.
Home purchases made up 71.8% of its loans, all conventional. Its largest market is non-metro Pennsylvania, where it ranked 47 of 643 lenders. In State College it ranked 52 of 192 with 0.2%, down 0.2 points; rivals' growth or its own slightly lower volume could explain the slip.
Its 163 loans were 5% fewer than in 2024, while similar lenders (the same type of lender, making between half and twice as many loans) and the whole market each grew 10%. It made 335 loans in 2021 and fewer in each year since. Refinancing may have swelled that peak; refinances were 16.6% of its loans in 2025.
