American Bank & Trust Company was the biggest mortgage lender in Bowling Green, KY in 2025, and it grew faster than most banks of its size.
It ranked first among 250 lenders there, with 8.4% of the market's dollars, up from 5.2% a year earlier. South Central Bank came second. It has lent in the market since 2004. In Lexington-Fayette, KY its share rose to 0.5% from 0.1%.
Its loans rose 19% to 295, against 8% at similar lenders, state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans. Its dollar volume nearly doubled, from $68.2 million to $132.7 million. Yet its typical loan barely moved, from $185,000 to $195,000, so a few large loans may account for much of the jump. Whether those loans were in Bowling Green is not yet clear.
Home purchases were 57.6% of its loans and refinances 39.7%. All were conventional. Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) fell to 0.4% from 2.9%. Its count has risen from 173 in 2020.
