Adventure Credit Union lends mostly to fix homes rather than buy them, and in 2025 its loans grew faster than at four in five similar credit unions.
It made 415 loans, up 31% from 317. Similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) grew 6%, and the whole market 10%. It remains below the 609 of 2020. Its 2025 merger with Astera Credit Union counts in the competition figures, not in these loan counts.
Home improvement made up 35.4% of its loans and purchases only 21.4%. Every loan was conventional. Its typical loan, $85,000, was smaller than at about four in five similar lenders, where it was $105,000.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 39.4% of its loans, against 27.5% at similar lenders, more than at nearly nine in ten of them. LMI neighborhoods took 18.7%, against 15.3%. Its share in majority-minority neighborhoods, 9.6%, was near the middle.
In Grand Rapids-Wyoming-Kentwood, MI it held 0.5% and ranks 37 of 436, behind Lake Michigan Credit Union. Its share rose from 0.2% to 0.4% in Lansing-East Lansing and from 0.1% to 0.2% in Muskegon-Norton Shores. Part of those gains may come from the Astera filings now counted with its own.
