Adirondack Bank is the fourth-largest lender in Utica-Rome and lends mostly to homebuyers, but its lending fell 7% in 2025 while similar banks grew.
In Utica-Rome it ranks 4 of 174 lenders with 5.3% of the market, a little below 5.6% in 2024; Americu Credit Union leads. It has reported there since 1992. Its other markets, such as Syracuse and non-metro New York, are much smaller for it.
It made 220 loans, down 7% from 237, while similar lenders (state member banks making between half and twice as many loans) typically grew 7% and the whole market 10%. That is about half the 472 it made in 2018. A lender of its size can move this much in a year, and its share in Utica-Rome barely changed.
Every loan was conventional, and none was higher-priced (a rate well above the average for similar loans), against 2.6% at peers. Its typical rate, 6.75%, matched theirs. Purchases were 67.3% of its loans and home improvement 13.6%.
