Colony Bank is a Georgia state non-member bank whose lending is built on government-backed loans, and its originations rose 35% in 2025, faster than nine in ten similar lenders.
One of the most government-backed lenders among its peers
FHA loans (insured by the Federal Housing Administration) were 20.1% of its originations, VA loans (guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs) 11.7% and RHS loans (guaranteed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service) 1.9%, against 1.4%, 0.5% and 0.1% at similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans). Conventional loans were 66.3%, against 96.9%, among the lowest tenth.
Growth in a year with a merger
Originations rose 35% to 1,111, against 10% at peers and for the whole market. It merged with TC Federal Bank in 2025, which is one possible source of the growth. Originations remain below the 1,890 of 2021.
Gains in Augusta and Tallahassee, a fall in Warner Robins
Its share rose 0.3 points to 1.5% in Augusta-Richmond County (rank 19 of 461) and to 1.7% from 0.0% in Tallahassee (rank 15 of 372); a rise from nothing that its 2025 merger could explain, since the merged bank's filings count in the competition figures. In Warner Robins its share fell 0.6 points to 2.3%, rank 9 of 299, which may be an ordinary one-year swing.
Prices and denials lower than peers
Its higher-priced share (a rate well above the average for similar loans) was 0.9%, against 1.6%, and its purchase denial rate 3.7%, against 5.8%.
