HomeXpress Mortgage is a California-based lender of conventional loans, mostly refinancings, whose originations have risen every year since 2020, to 7,983 in 2025.
Originations rose 33% from 6,004, against 13% for similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans) and 10% for the whole market, faster than about seven in ten similar lenders. It made 913 loans in 2020 and has grown in each year since.
Conventional loans were 97.9% of its lending, against 62.4% at similar lenders; FHA loans (insured by the Federal Housing Administration) were 1.4% and VA loans (guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs) 0.7%. Only 11.9% went to LMI borrowers, against 29.9%, among the lowest tenth. Its near absence of FHA lending, which often serves lower-income buyers, may explain this.
Its share in San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad rose from 0.1% to 0.3%, ranking 65 of 639, and held at 0.2% in Houston. It lends in 47 states and entered Lansing, Traverse City and Columbia, MO in 2025.
