Cornerstone First Mortgage nearly doubled its lending in 2025 to 7,401 loans, growing faster than all but about one in twenty similar lenders, mostly in home purchases.
Cornerstone First Mortgage made 7,401 loans in 2025, up from 3,719 and from 2,337 five years earlier, the most of any year since 2018. Similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans) grew 14% and the whole market 10%. Purchases were 80.4% of its lending.
Five years ago 86.7% of its loans were conventional and 5.7% were FHA loans (insured by the Federal Housing Administration). In 2025 the split was 70.0% and 22.0%, close to similar lenders. Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) were 4.8%, against 1.2%, higher than about nine in ten similar lenders.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 30.1% of its loans, up from 22.9% and near the 29.8% of similar lenders. 22.7% of its loans were in LMI tracts and 30.8% in majority-minority tracts, both above the middle of similar lenders. It turned down 6.0% of first-lien refinance applications on owner-occupied homes, against 9.9%.
Its share of its home market, San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad, rose from 0.2% to 0.5%, ranking 40 of 639. In Springfield, OH, entered in 2025, it reached 1.0% and ranked 24 of 216. Florida is its main state.
