Our analysis, 2025
OnPoint Community Credit Union grew 14% in 2025, faster than the typical similar lender (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) at 9% and the whole market at 10%, with home improvement its largest line at 32.3% of loans.
Home improvement made up 32.3% of its loans, ahead of refinancing at 27.0% and purchases at 26.2%. Its typical loan has fallen to $125,000 from $255,000 five years before, matching the typical peer.
Loans in low- and moderate-income (LMI) areas were 19.2% of its total, higher than about nine in ten similar lenders, against 14.2% for the typical peer. Its share to LMI borrowers, 25.6%, was near the middle. Majority-minority areas took 6.4% against 9.4%, lower than about three-quarters of peers, which may reflect the makeup of its Oregon markets.
Its typical rate was 7.50% against 6.75% for the typical peer, higher than more than eight in ten similar lenders. Yet higher-priced loans, at a rate well above the average for similar loans, were only 0.2%. Its large share of home improvement loans, which can carry different terms from purchase loans, may account for the gap.
It ranks 3 of 566 in Portland with 6.3%, nearly unchanged, and gained share in Salem, to 2.7%, and Eugene, to 1.9%. It turned down 2.3% of first-lien home-purchase applications on owner-occupied homes, lower than more than eight in ten peers, and 9.9% of refinance applications, among the lowest tenth.
