Citizens Business Bank makes few home loans but very large ones, with a typical loan of $965,000 against $185,000 for similar lenders, and its lending more than doubled in 2025.
Similar lenders are national banks making between half and twice as many loans. Its 76 loans sit near the middle of that group, but its $182.6 million lent is higher than nearly all of them. Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) were 30.8% of its loans against 2.9% for similar lenders.
Originations rose 124% from 34, against 4% for similar lenders and 10% for the whole market, yet 76 is about half the 143 of 2020. With so few loans, a handful of large ones can swing volume from year to year.

Large loans to high-income buyers or investors in mixed California neighbourhoods could explain both.
Its Bakersfield-Delano share rose to 1.1% from 0.2%, ranking 20 of 407, and Chico reached 1.0%. A few large loans can move such shares.
