Our analysis, 2025
America's Credit Union is chiefly a home-improvement lender: such loans were 60.6% of its 2025 lending, and its loans are bigger than those of most similar credit unions.
Home-improvement loans made up 60.6% of its lending, refinances 22.4% and purchases only 15.2%. Almost all were conventional.
Its typical loan, $165,000, was well above the $105,000 at similar lenders, credit unions making between half and twice as many loans, and larger than at about five in six of them. Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) were 8.5% of its lending, against none at the typical peer, and 8.0% a year earlier.
It made 165 loans, down 10%, while similar lenders grew 8% and the whole market 10%. Its count peaked at 478 in 2022, and it has made fewer than half as many in each year since. It filed no report for 2020, a gap in the record rather than a year without lending. A lender that mostly finances home improvements may see its volume follow what homeowners spend on their houses rather than home sales, and the 2022 peak may have been the exception.
In Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater it ranked 64th of 303 lenders, with 0.3% of the market in both years; it has lent there since 1990. Its typical rate, 6.75%, matched that of similar lenders. None of its loans was higher-priced (a rate well above the average for similar loans), against 6.8% a year earlier.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
FIG. 1 — LOANS ORIGINATED, 2018–2025
Originated means the loan was made: applications denied, withdrawn or not accepted are not counted. Years with no HMDA report from this lender are left out: since 2020 a bank making fewer than 100 closed-end loans a year need not report. America's Credit Union took 297 applications in 2025.
