Verus filed its first HMDA report in 2025 and arrived as a national lender, making 652 conventional loans, most of them for home purchases, across 43 states.
Verus made 652 loans in 2025, a little below the 715 of a typical similar lender (other non-bank or government lenders making between half and twice as many loans). It spread them across 117 metros, with Florida its main state. It is still small in each of them: in Orlando, one of its largest markets, it ranked 221st of 854 lenders with a 0.1% share.
Every loan was conventional. It made none insured by the Federal Housing Administration or guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and it bought no loans from other lenders. Purchases made up 78.4% of its lending and refinances 17.8%.
Its typical loan, $375,000, was close to peers' $365,000. But 13.8% of its loans were jumbo (larger than the conforming limit), against 3.9% at the typical peer, a higher share than at about four in five similar lenders.
Only 6.1% of its borrowers had low or moderate incomes, against 30.2% at similar lenders, which puts it among the lowest tenth. Yet its share of loans in poorer neighborhoods (low- and moderate-income tracts), 19.0%, was close to peers' 22.0%. A lender of conventional loans, with more jumbo loans and no government-backed lending, may draw borrowers with higher incomes. A first year's book may also not show where it will settle.
