Velocity Credit Union, an Austin refinance lender, sends far more of its loans to poorer and largely minority neighborhoods than similar credit unions do.
Refinances make up 76.9% of its 121 loans and purchases 17.4%. Every loan is conventional. It made 121 loans in 2025, against 120 the year before; similar lenders, credit unions making between half and twice as many loans, grew by 8%.
