A lender for existing owners
Home improvement and other purposes together made up nearly half its lending, and refinancing another 22.6%. So most of its borrowers may already have owned their homes. That may help explain its small loans: the typical one was $135,000, against $185,000 at similar banks, meaning state member banks making between half and twice as many loans.
