The Community Bank is a rural Ohio lender that sends an unusually large share of its loans to poorer neighborhoods, and it grew in step with similar banks in 2025.
It made 266 loans in 2025, up 9% on the year. Similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans) grew 8% and the whole market 10%, so its pace sat near the middle. That is still well under half the 657 loans it made in 2020.
Some 27.8% of its loans were in low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, against 17.2% at similar lenders, higher than about four in five of them. LMI borrowers took 29.3% of its loans, close to the peers' 28.0%. Few of its loans went to majority-minority neighborhoods, which may reflect the rural Ohio counties where most of its lending happens.
Only 1.1% of its loans were higher-priced (a rate well above the average for similar loans), down from 5.1% in 2024 and below the 1.9% of similar lenders. All its loans were conventional. Purchases made up 56.8% of its lending and refinances 35.0%.
Non-metro Ohio is its largest market, where it ranks 51 of 592 lenders. In Columbus it ranks 109 of 596 and held its share steady at 0.1%, while The Huntington National Bank led. The bank, called The Crooksville Bank until 1991, first reported in 2014.
