The Bank of Tampa is a lender of large loans: a third of its 2025 lending was jumbo, against barely any at similar banks.
Jumbo loans, those above the conforming limit, made up 32.1% of its lending in 2025, against 1.3% at similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans). Only a handful of peers had a higher share. Its typical loan was $405,000, against $175,000. Every loan was conventional.
Home improvement made up 31.9% of its loans and other purposes 21.9%. Purchases took only 28.3% and refinances 17.9%. So much home-improvement lending sits oddly beside its large loans, and the data do not say what the other-purpose loans are for.
Borrowers with low or moderate incomes (LMI) took 2.1% of its loans, against 28.4% at similar lenders, among the lowest shares of any of them. LMI neighborhoods took 5.2%, against 17.6%. A lender whose business is large loans may simply attract wealthier clients; its home-improvement and other loans may also go to established owners. It lent more than most peers in majority-minority neighborhoods, 12.3% against 6.4%.
Its loans rose 27% in 2025, to 251, against 9% at similar lenders, after falling from 363 in 2022. It ranks 57 of 925 lenders in Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, a market it has served since 1990. It filed no report from 2018 to 2021; those are gaps in the record, not years without lending.
