Tarrant County's Credit Union, a $123 million lender that has reported since 1990, made just 14 home loans in 2025, mostly for improvements and other purposes.
Its loans fell 26%, from 19, while similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) fell 14% and the whole market grew 10%. It made 46 loans in 2020 and has made fewer each year since 2022. The figures do not show why.
Home improvement accounted for 42.9% of its loans and other purposes 35.7%; refinances and purchases made up the rest. Its typical loan was $70,000. With so few loans, these shares describe one year rather than a settled pattern.
All its lending is in Texas, across two metros and four counties, and Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington is its largest market. It has lent there since 1990, though its share of that market is too small to measure.
