Government-backed lending
Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 6.2% of its lending, those guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) 4.8% and those guaranteed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service (RHS) 1.4%. The typical similar lender, among state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans, made none of any. On each it was higher than more than nine in ten peers.
