Prairie Community Bank of Marengo, Illinois, is a small lender making a few dozen conventional home loans a year, 24 in 2025, mostly around Chicago, in rural Wisconsin and in Rockford.
It made 31 loans in 2023, 28 in 2024 and 24 in 2025. Similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans) made 34 at the typical count. Its lending in 2025 reached nine counties in three states, and for the first time included the Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Brent, FL, market.
