Platinum Eagle Mortgage, a Texas lender to home buyers first reported in 2023, grew by a third in 2025 and makes far more government-backed loans than similar lenders.
It made 59 loans in 2023, 213 in 2024 and 286 in 2025. Its 34% rise compares with 4% for the typical similar lender, meaning non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, and 10% for the whole market. That is faster than about four in five of them.
Home purchases made up 91.3% of its loans. Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) rose to 21.7%, from 13.6%, and loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to 18.2%, from 10.8%. The typical similar lender made all its loans conventional.
Its share rose in Tyler to 1.7%, from 1.5%, where it ranked 12 of 345 lenders. It also rose in Longview, to 0.4%, and in Abilene, to 0.4%. It entered Shreveport-Bossier City in 2025.
Only 9.1% of its loans went to poorer neighborhoods (low- and moderate-income, or LMI, tracts), against 23.6% at similar lenders, among the lowest tenth. The towns and rural counties where it lends, or the homes buyers choose there, may explain it.
