Our analysis, 2025
Peak Financial is a small Colorado lender that mostly refinances existing homeowners and relies on government-backed loans more than almost any similar lender.
Peak Financial made 38 loans in 2025, and 78.9% of them were refinances. It lends in three states, mainly Colorado, but its share of every market it serves is close to nothing.
More than half its loans, 52.6%, were insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Similar lenders, meaning non-bank or government lenders making between half and twice as many loans, typically made only conventional loans. The difference makes it an unusual member of its peer group, and its comparisons with them should be read with that in mind.
Some 56.8% of its borrowers had low or moderate incomes, against 27.3% at peers. With only 38 loans, a handful of borrowers either way would move that share a good deal. Its typical rate, 6.25%, was below the peers' 6.81%.
Its loans rose 9%, from 35 to 38, while the whole market grew 10%. It made 57 loans in 2018, its first year of reporting, and 66 in 2019, so it is smaller now than it was then.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
