Mortgage Lenders Investment Trading, a Florida lender heavy in government-backed loans, halved its lending in 2025, to 337 loans.
Its loans fell 49%, from 655. That was among the steepest falls of similar lenders, independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, whose loans rose 2%. The whole market rose 10%. The fall continues a slide from 6,667 loans in 2021. The figures do not show why.
Its largest market is Gainesville, Florida, where it ranked 15 of 367 lenders; its share of the dollars lent fell from 2.9% to 1.8%. In Orlando its share slipped from 0.2% to 0.1%. Both falls may follow from its smaller volume. Yet it made its first loans in three new markets in 2025: Savannah, Hilton Head Island and rural Texas.
Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 33.8% of its lending, against 17.4% at similar lenders, and up from 16.4% in 2020. Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs were 8.9%, against 4.1%. Refinances made up a third of its loans, and its typical loan, $275,000, was smaller than peers' $330,000.
Some 26.1% of its loans went to low- and moderate-income borrowers, against 21.8% at similar lenders, higher than about two-thirds of them. Its share in majority-minority neighborhoods, 21.4%, was near the middle.
