Mortgage Clearing, a Tulsa firm, buys far more mortgages than it makes: it bought 795 loans in 2025 and originated 31.
The 795 loans it bought outnumbered its own originations many times over. The typical similar lender, among independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, bought none. Its purchases rose from 724 a year earlier but were well below the 2,632 it bought in 2020.
It originated 31 loans, up from 26, after 444 in 2020 and 267 in 2021. The count has been below 100 since 2022. The data do not say why its own lending shrank, nor whether it shifted toward buying loans made by others.
Its loans all came from Oklahoma: two metros and 14 counties. It has lent in Tulsa and Oklahoma City since 1992, when it first reported, but holds only a sliver of either: it ranked 143 of 476 lenders in Tulsa, where Associated Mortgage led.
