Our analysis, 2025
LoanFlight Lending, a Florida-based refinancing lender working in 16 states, nearly doubled its loans in 2025, but remains a fraction of its size in 2021.
Refinances made up 65.3% of LoanFlight Lending's loans in 2025. Most were conventional, but 10.0% were insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and 8.9% guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Similar lenders (non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans) mostly made none.
Its loans rose 87%, to 271 from 145, while peers grew 4%; few did better. The lender made 2,043 loans in 2021, then fell to 51 in 2023. The data do not say why. Its typical rate was 2.75% in 2020 against 5.99% in 2025, and for a lender built on refinancing, the end of cheap rates may account for much of the fall. The recovery so far is small.
Its typical loan, $455,000, was larger than at about two-thirds of peers, whose typical loan was $365,000. Its typical rate, 5.99%, was lower than at more than four in five of them, against peers' 6.62%.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 10.4% of its loans, against 24.1% for peers, and LMI neighborhoods 10.8%, against 23.6%. Its larger loans and its focus on refinancing may account for this, since such loans tend to go to better-off owners.
