Homeland Credit Union, a Chillicothe lender with $618 million in assets, made 22 home loans in 2025, mostly refinances, far below its lending of five years earlier.
The credit union made 365 loans in 2020 and 188 in 2021. Since 2023 it has made 19, 23 and 22 loans a year. A typical similar lender, meaning a credit union making between half and twice as many loans, made 28. The figures do not say why its lending fell.
Refinances made up 72.7% of its 22 loans, with purchases and other purposes splitting the rest. All were conventional. With so few loans, its shares of lending to particular borrowers or neighborhoods, and of higher-priced loans, rest on a handful of cases and say little.
