High Plains CU Funding is a new Amarillo lender that made its first 16 loans in 2025, almost all of them conventional home-purchase mortgages.
It first reported in 2025. Its loans gave it a 0.3% share of the Amarillo market, ranking 51 of 258 lenders there, in a market led by Amarillo National Bank. It also made a few loans in rural Texas. All its lending was in five Texas counties.
Purchases made up 87.5% of its loans and refinances the rest. Every loan was conventional, without a government guarantee, and none financed a manufactured home. So far it has been a conventional purchase lender, unlike the typical similar lender, where 17.4% of loans were insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).
Similar lenders, here 14 non-bank lenders making between an eighth and eight times as many loans, made 78 loans in the typical case, and it made fewer loans than more than nine in ten of them. Its 16 loans are too few for its shares of borrower groups, neighborhoods or prices to say much yet.
