A government-backed lender
Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 42.4% of its lending, against 18.3% at similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans). Another 12.8% were guaranteed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service, a product the typical similar lender does not use. Nine in ten of its loans financed a purchase.
