First Home Mortgage, a Baltimore mortgage company that has reported since 1990, is the third-largest lender in its home market and the largest in Lexington Park, Maryland.
In Baltimore-Columbia-Towson it ranked 3rd of 592 lenders, with 3.9% of the market, behind only Rocket Mortgage and United Wholesale Mortgage. Its share edged up from 3.8%. In Lexington Park it led all 291 lenders with 10.5%, though that was down from 12.3%.
Its loans fell 5% in 2025, to 5,283, while similar lenders, independent lenders making between half and twice as many loans, grew 13% and the whole market 10%. The slip in Lexington Park may reflect that wider fall rather than anything particular to the market. Its lending is about a third of the 16,338 loans it made in 2020.
Purchases made up 89.0% of its loans. Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) were 11.9% of its lending, against 7.4% at similar lenders, more than at about four in five of them. Borrowers with low or moderate incomes took 33.6% of its loans, against 27.8% at peers.
It denied 2.7% of first-lien purchase applications on owner-occupied homes, against 4.3% at similar lenders. For refinances the rate was 2.9%, against 8.4%, lower than at more than four in five of its peers.
