First Equity Mortgage Bankers is based in Miami but is chiefly a Puerto Rico lender, fourth in San Juan and third in Ponce, and it gained ground on the island in 2025.
Puerto Rico is its main market, and it has lent there since 2000. In San Juan it ranks 4th of 63 lenders with 6.6% of lending, behind Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, Firstbank and Oriental Bank. In Ponce it ranks 3rd of 40 with 10.3%. In Miami, its home, it is one of 937 lenders.

It also made 34.8% of its loans in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, against 20.2%, more than about nine in ten similar lenders. Both may follow from its concentration in Puerto Rico.
