East Coast Capital, a non-bank lender based in Melville, New York, grew its loans by 28% in 2025, far faster than similar lenders or the market, while making bigger loans than most of them.
It made 1,602 loans, up from 1,253. Similar lenders, here independent non-banks making between half and twice as many loans, grew 5%, and the whole market 10%. Growth was faster than at nearly four in five of them. The count is back above its 2020 level of 1,562, though still short of the 1,961 it made in 2021.
Its typical loan was $450,000, against $315,000 at similar lenders, higher than at more than four in five of them. Jumbo loans, those larger than the conforming limit, made up 4.8% of its lending, against 1.1%. It relies less on government programs: only 2.2% of its loans were VA loans, guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, against 6.5% at its peers. Two-thirds of its loans financed home purchases.
It lends in 33 states and 135 metros. In New York-Newark-Jersey City, its largest market, it ranks 57 of 802 lenders, behind JPMorgan Chase Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. Among its largest markets, its biggest gain came in Hilton Head Island-Bluffton-Port Royal, where its share rose to 1.1% from 0.7%. Gainesville and Barnstable Town are among the markets it entered in 2025.
It denied 2.4% of refinance applications, against 6.1% at similar lenders, lower than at four in five of them. More than a third of its loans, 34.9%, went to majority-minority neighborhoods, against 26.2% at its peers.
