CUSO Mortgage, a Maine home-purchase lender since 1994, grew its loans by 14% in 2025 while similar lenders shrank, and it ranks 11th in Bangor.
It made 331 loans in 2025, up from 291, while similar lenders, non-bank affiliates making between a quarter and four times as many loans, saw a typical fall of 12%. Its growth was faster than more than four in five of them. It has more than doubled from 125 loans in 2023, though it remains far below the 1,713 of 2020.
Purchases made up 87.3% of its loans. Its typical loan was $255,000, against $305,000 at peers. Manufactured homes were 8.5% of its lending, the highest share among its peers, whose typical share was 0.9%.
