Home improvement, in small sums
On so few loans this describes a year rather than a trend. Its typical loan was $45,000, less than half the $105,000 at similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) and smaller than at nearly all of them. Its loans came to $890,000 in all. Home-improvement loans tend to be for smaller sums than purchases, which may account for the gap. Only 6.3% of its lending went to buying homes.
