Caguas Coop is a small Puerto Rico lender that makes modest conventional loans, mostly to home buyers, and has slowly built its volume from 11 loans in 2018 to 37 in 2025.
Every one of its loans was conventional, with no government backing. Purchases made up 70.3% and refinances the rest. Its typical loan was $115,000, against $250,000 at similar lenders (independent non-banks making between half and twice as many loans), smaller than at more than eight in ten of them.
It made 37 loans, two fewer than in 2024, while its peers grew 6%. The longer trend runs the other way: 11 loans in 2018, 33 in 2023 and 39 in 2024. With so few loans, a handful either way moves every share it reports.
