Baton Rouge Telco Federal Credit Union, a $450 million credit union that has reported since 1991, makes only a couple of dozen home loans a year, most of them to buy homes.
It made 21 loans in 2025, down from 27 the year before and 48 in 2022. Similar lenders, credit unions making between half and twice as many loans, made 27 at the middle and fell 5%. It filed no reports for 2020 and 2021; those are gaps in the record, not years without lending.
