Our analysis, 2025
Archwest Funding, a conventional-only lender in its second year of reporting, made 39% fewer loans in 2025 while similar lenders grew.
Archwest first reported in 2024, with 771 loans. In 2025 it made 468. Similar lenders (lenders of the same type making between half and twice as many loans) grew by 16% and the whole market by 10%; no peer shrank faster.
Every loan it made was conventional, as at its peers, with no manufactured homes. Refinancing made up 55.3% of its lending and purchases 44.7%. For a lender of its size it is spread thin, across 34 states and 106 counties, with California its main state.
Its typical loan size jumped in 2025 even as its loan count fell, and there is no reading of its borrowers' incomes. That may mean a shift toward larger loans, perhaps to investors, or amounts recorded inconsistently. Its dollar totals, loan sizes and market shares should be read with care until that is checked.
Some 37.0% of its loans went to low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, against 18.7% at similar lenders, more than at about four in five of them. Half its loans, 50.4%, were in majority-minority neighborhoods, against 31.3%. Both were higher still in 2024, at 55.8% and 61.2%.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
