Our analysis, 2025
Wymar Federal Credit Union is mostly a refinance lender, and its loans rose 27% in 2025 after four years of decline.
Two-thirds of its loans, 66.7%, were refinances and the rest purchases. Every loan in 2025 was conventional.
Its loans rose from 66 to 84, faster than nearly three-quarters of similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans), whose loans grew 7%. That still leaves it well short of the 194 it made in 2020. Its share of the Baton Rouge market edged up from 0.3% to 0.4%, 57th of 369 lenders.
Its typical loan was $145,000, against $95,000 at similar lenders. Only 10.7% of its borrowers were low- and moderate-income (LMI), against 30.2%, among the lowest twentieth of its peers, and 7.1% of its loans went to LMI neighborhoods, among the lowest tenth. A book of refinances serves existing homeowners, who may earn more, and on 84 loans a few borrowers move these shares. Its lending in majority-minority neighborhoods, 9.5%, is near the middle.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
