Unison Credit Union grew 37% in 2025, gaining share in Appleton and Green Bay with loans much larger than similar credit unions make.
Its loans rose 37%, from 81 to 111, against 8% at similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans). Its share of Appleton rose from 0.6% to 0.8%, ranking it 28 of 257, and of Green Bay from 0.1% to 0.2%. Community First Credit Union led both markets.
Purchases made up 44.1% of its loans and refinances 38.7%, all conventional. Its typical loan was $185,000, against $105,000 at similar lenders, larger than nearly nine in ten. Its typical rate was 6.50%, against 6.75%, and none of its loans was higher-priced (a rate well above the average for similar loans).
It made 24.3% of its loans in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, up from 13.6% and above the 17.2% at similar lenders. But low- and moderate-income borrowers took 21.3%, down from 35.8% and below the 29.7% at similar lenders. Larger loans may suit borrowers with higher incomes, wherever they live.
Even after the rise, it made fewer than half the 256 loans of 2020 and about a third of the 316 of 2021.
