TXN Bank, formerly The Hondo National Bank, is a small Texas lender to home buyers whose loans go far more often to majority-minority neighborhoods than those of similar banks.
Purchases made up 75.0% of its 40 loans in 2025, and every loan was conventional. San Antonio is its largest market, where it has lent since 2004; it ranks 211 of 669 lenders there and its share rose from 0.0% to 0.1%. It made its first loans in Houston and Laredo in 2025.
Majority-minority neighborhoods took 57.5% of its loans, against 7.2% at the typical one of the 108 similar lenders, state member banks making between half and twice as many loans. That is higher than at almost all of them, and may simply reflect where it lends, around San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Laredo. Low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods took 22.5%, higher than at about two-thirds of peers.
Manufactured homes made up 15.0% of its loans, against none at the typical peer, a higher share than at almost nine in ten similar lenders. Its typical loan, $195,000, was close to the peers' $185,000.
Loans rose 21%, from 33 to 40, while similar lenders grew 4%. That is still well short of the 67 it made in 2023, though a book this small can swing by a dozen loans for ordinary reasons. It filed no report for 2020 to 2022; those are gaps in the record, not years without lending.
