A long decline
Its loans fell 19%, from 53 to 43, while similar lenders, other national banks making between half and twice as many loans, held level. That fall was steeper than at about four in five of them. It made 243 loans in 2020 and 162 in 2021. Those peaks may have come from a wave of refinancing; refinances are now 20.9% of its lending.
