Lending in poorer neighborhoods
Some 55.6% of its loans were in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, against 16.2% at similar lenders (national banks making between half and twice as many loans), a higher share than at about nineteen in twenty of them. Five years earlier the figure was 33.3%. Some 36.1% were in majority-minority neighborhoods, against 7.7% at similar lenders. A bank lending in a single county takes these shares from that county, so they may reflect where it is as much as whom it seeks out.
