Security National Bank of Omaha grew faster than most similar banks in 2025 and moved toward much larger loans, lending far from Nebraska as well as at home.
It made 90 loans, 41% more than in 2024, against 6% for similar lenders, national banks making between half and twice as many loans. Its typical loan rose to $185,000 from $105,000, and its lending in dollars roughly doubled to $36.4 million.
Jumbo loans, larger than the conforming limit, made up 18.3% of its lending, up from 10.9% in 2024 and higher than at nearly nine in ten similar lenders, where the typical figure is 2.9%. It lends in seven states, as far from home as the Riverside and Sacramento areas of California and Phoenix.
In Omaha, where it has lent since at least 1990, it ranks 59 of 417 lenders and its share rose to 0.3% from 0.2%. JPMorgan Chase Bank and Berkeley Point Capital lead the market.
Its share of loans in poorer (low- and moderate-income) neighborhoods fell to 12.2% from 29.7%, lower than at about two-thirds of similar lenders. Its shift toward larger loans and distant markets may explain the fall. A quarter of its borrowers, 25.0%, had modest incomes, near the middle.
