Mobility Credit Union, a Dallas-Fort Worth lender since at least 1990, now makes about a quarter of the loans it made in 2022, though its count held steady in 2025.
It made 217 loans in both 2021 and 2022, then 123 in 2023 and 54 in 2024. In 2025 it made 57, up 6%, close to the 7% growth of similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans). The data do not show what drove the earlier fall.
Purchases made up 40.4% of its loans, home improvement 29.8% and refinancing 19.3%. Every loan was conventional. Its typical loan was $135,000, above the $95,000 of similar credit unions.
Majority-minority neighborhoods took 43.9% of its loans, against 9.6% at similar credit unions, a higher share than more than four in five. The share has climbed from 31.5% in 2024 and 16.3% in 2020. That may reflect where it lends: Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington is its largest market, where it ranked 438 of 1,026 lenders.
Its typical rate was 7.94%, higher than at about nine in ten similar credit unions, where it was 6.74%. Yet higher-priced loans (a rate well above the average for similar loans) made up only 3.9% of its lending, near the middle of the group. Home improvement, nearly three in ten of its loans, may explain the gap: such loans can carry higher rates than purchase mortgages without counting as higher-priced.
