Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union, an Alaskan credit union that mostly refinances, grew its lending by 36% in 2025 and gained share in Anchorage.
Refinances made up 54.4% of its loans, home purchases 33.3% and home improvement 12.2%. Its typical loan was $265,000, against $95,000 at similar lenders: credit unions making between half and twice as many loans. That is larger than at more than nine in ten of them.
