Leighton State Bank, an Iowa bank, is a small rural bank whose typical loan is smaller than at nearly nine in ten similar banks.
Its typical loan was $105,000, against $167,500 at similar lenders (banks of the same type making between half and twice as many loans). Half its loans were for home purchases, a third for refinances and 10.7% for home improvement. Its dollar total, $8.5 million, was barely changed from $8.4 million.
