Our analysis, 2025
Jordan Credit Union, a Utah lender that mostly refinances, made 74% more loans in 2025 after three thin years.
Refinances made up 76.6% of its loans and purchases 23.4%. With so much of its lending in refinancing, its volume may rise and fall with borrowers' demand to refinance.
It made 47 loans in 2025, up from 27, while similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) grew 4% and the whole market 10%. Its growth was higher than at about nine in ten of them. It made 30 or fewer in each of the three years before. Five years before, when its typical rate was 2.88%, it made 142.
Its typical loan was $295,000, against $95,000 at similar lenders, but it was $65,000 the year before, so one year's mix moves it a lot. Low- and moderate-income borrowers took 12.8% of its loans, against 31.0%, lower than at about nine in ten. Larger loans are one possible reason; how lasting the shift is, only later years will tell.
Its typical rate was 6.12%, against 6.75% at similar lenders, lower than at more than four in five. In Salt Lake City-Murray, its largest market, it ranks 122 of 363 lenders.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
