Bank of Louisiana, a small New Orleans lender, grew fast in 2025: its 88 loans were 40% more than a year before, and more than half went to majority-minority neighborhoods.
Refinances were 70.5% of its loans and home purchases 27.3%, all conventional. Its typical loan was $105,000, lower than at about nine in ten similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans). Theirs was $175,000.
Majority-minority areas took 55.7% of its loans, against 6.4% at peers, a higher share than at more than nine in ten of them. Poorer neighborhoods (low- and moderate-income, or LMI, areas) took 41.2%, against 18.3%. Its share of loans to LMI borrowers was near the middle of peers.
Originations rose from 63 to 88, while similar lenders grew 9% and the whole market 10%. That was faster than about four in five peers. The bank filed no HMDA report for 2020 to 2022, so those years are a gap in the record, not years without lending.
In New Orleans-Metairie it ranked 58 of 371 lenders with an unchanged 0.3%; Gulf Coast Bank and Trust Company and First Horizon Bank led. Its share rose 0.5 points in Hammond and 0.1 points in Slidell-Mandeville-Covington.
