Banesco USA, a Miami bank, makes few home loans but very large ones. Its 59 loans in 2025 had a typical size of $1.2 million, and most were jumbo.
Its typical loan was $1.2 million, against $167,500 at similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans), higher than nearly all of them. Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) were 73.7% of its lending, up from 41.5% in 2024. At peers they were 1.7%. So although its loan count sat near the middle, its $135.3 million in originations was higher than nearly all of theirs.
It bought 38 loans in 2025 and 55 in 2024, where most similar lenders bought none. Of the loans it made itself, 72.9% financed home purchases and 20.3% were refinances.

It reported no loans to borrowers with low and moderate incomes (LMI), against 26.9% at peers, possibly because few such borrowers seek loans of this size. Its share in LMI neighborhoods, 15.8%, was near the middle.
In San Juan-Bayamón-Caguas it ranked 16 of 63 lenders, with 1.6%, up from 1.5%. Banco Popular de Puerto Rico and Firstbank led. It filed no HMDA report from 2018 to 2022.
