Peoples National Bank, a purchase lender rooted in rural Illinois, lends more to low- and moderate-income borrowers than about nine in ten similar banks.
Purchases make up 79.4% of its loans. Its typical loan, $135,000, is smaller than at about nine in ten similar lenders (national banks making between half and twice as many loans), where it is $205,000. Manufactured homes, 8.2% of its loans against 1.2% for peers, may help explain the gap.
