Pathfinder Bank, based in Oswego, New York, lent more in 2025, and nearly half of its loans went to borrowers with low or moderate incomes.
It made 184 loans, up 31% from 140. Similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans) grew by 10%; Pathfinder grew faster than about four in five of them. The money it lent rose from $33.6 million to $56.3 million. It is still well short of the 446 loans it made in 2020.
Borrowers with low or moderate incomes (LMI) took 48.4% of its loans, higher than at nearly all similar lenders, where the typical share was 27.7%. In 2020 the figure was 22.8%. LMI neighborhoods took 33.7%, against 17.6%. Its typical loan, $135,000, was smaller than similar lenders' $175,000.
In Syracuse it ranked 18 of 246 lenders, and its share rose from 1.2% to 2.0%; Empower Federal Credit Union led. In Utica-Rome its share fell from 1.1% to 0.1%. Its lending may have moved toward Syracuse, or the year before may have included a few large loans there.
Purchases were 62.5% of its loans and refinances 21.2%, all conventional. Manufactured homes made up 7.6%, against 2.8% at the typical similar lender.
