Partners Bank of New England, a Maine savings bank, lends for almost every purpose a homeowner has, and in 2025 its lending grew faster than at most banks like it.
It made 344 loans in 2025, up 11% from 309. Similar lenders (savings institutions making between half and twice as many loans) grew by 4%, and the whole market by 10%. Its growth was higher than at more than six in ten of them. The money it lent rose from $79.4 million to $97.8 million.
Only 31.7% of its loans were for buying a home. Refinances took 28.8%, other purposes 29.9% and home improvement 9.6%. Nearly all were conventional. Its typical loan, $215,000, was a little smaller than the $232,500 at similar lenders.
It made 25.6% of its loans in low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, against 15.1% at the typical similar lender. That is higher than at about nineteen in twenty of them. Borrowers with low or moderate incomes took 29.2%, higher than at about seven in ten.
Portland-South Portland is its largest market. There it ranked 23 of 364 lenders, with 1.1% of lending, against 1.2% a year earlier. United Wholesale Mortgage and Bangor Savings Bank led. The bank filed no HMDA report for 2018, which leaves a gap in its record rather than a year without loans.
