Liberty Bank, a small Alabama lender to refinancers and manufactured-home buyers, made 35% more loans in 2025, faster growth than most similar lenders.
The bank made 196 loans, up from 145, its highest count since at least 2018. That growth was faster than at more than four in five similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans), which grew 10%. The dollars it lent rose to $34.0 million from $22.3 million.
Refinances made up 55.6% of its loans and purchases 30.1%, all conventional. Manufactured homes took 16.3% of its lending, against 2.9% at similar lenders. Its typical loan, $130,000, was smaller than its peers' $175,000, though up from $85,000 in 2024.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 33.1% of its loans, against 27.9% at similar lenders. Yet LMI neighborhoods took only 6.7%, among the lowest tenth of its peers. Its largest market is non-metro Alabama, where it ranks 41st of 523 lenders, and the areas it serves may contain few such neighborhoods.
In Gadsden its share fell to 1.1% from 1.5%, leaving it 23rd of 190 lenders. Its growth may have come in other markets while rivals gained there. In Anniston-Oxford its share rose to 0.2%.
